Inside Rajinikanth’s camp, there have been talks about what approach to take to consolidate a vote bank. Looking into the caste angle in politics, it is said that the 67-year-old has decided that they will not be framing policies to attract a certain caste or express certain leaning.
Social justice and equal justice will be the ethos of the party when it is launched, along with the ‘MGR-style’ governance that Rajinikanth promised during his last public meeting.
Meanwhile, after active discussions with his team last week, the actor-politician appointed Samuel Churchill as youth wing secretary and Gayathri Duraisamy as women wing secretary. On Sunday, Samuel conducted interviews for members of the Rajini Makkal Mandram youth wing in Coimbatore, as Rajinikanth seeks to build a strong base with youngsters across Tamil Nadu.
Several college students have also come on board to join the Mandram, it is learnt, though exact figures will only be revealed after the launch of his party.
He is also said to have asked the women’s wing members about who they consider female role models in politics and what can be done to improve the status of women.
