Government will act tough on anti-socials: D Jayakumar
Responding to actor Rajinikanth’s demand that the state government should crack down on the anti-social elements present in Tamil Nadu, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar on Thursday asserted that the AIADMK government would not allow the rise of terrorists in the state.

Jayakumar also dismissed allegations that both the AIADMK and Rajinikanth receive orders from the same place and said, “We are not dependent on anyone. We have a unique identity. We have never been slaves to anyone,” he told reporters at his residence here.
Recalling the slogan ‘Peace, Prosperity and Development’ given by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, he said only peace would ensure prosperity and development. The AIADMK government is moving in the path shown by Jayalalithaa and action would be taken if peace is disturbed. The state government is firm on suppressing those resorting to violence with an iron hand, he added.
He also said that the anti-social elements involved in Thoothukudi’s anti-Sterlite protests would be known only after the inquiry commission on the incident submitted its report. “Only after the report is out, the persons responsible for the mistakes would be known,” he noted.
He also reiterated his comments that the state government would take action on any movie that disrupted peace and communal harmony in the state.
Taking a dig at DMK working president MK Stalin, Jayakumar said, “He is living in an imaginary world and considers his party headquarters as the Secretariat.” BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan also welcomed Rajinikanth’s views through her comments on twitter. She said the actor had said infiltration of anti-social elements had caused loss of lives during the anti-Sterlite protests. She added that Rajinikanth’s comments that protests should be held with caution had been conveyed due to social concern. Coming out with truth despite criticisms, if always, is correct, she said.
Tamilisai also reminded that the BJP had expressed the same opinion from the beginning.
