Speaking to reporters here, the BJP leader said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi never assured of depositing Rs 15 lakh in the people’s bank accounts during the Lok Sabha election campaign but he used the point to make the people understand about the enormity of black money. “If any one proves that the PM had assured to deposit Rs 15 lakh in people’s bank account, I will quit politics,” Raja said.

Stating that the BJP was the party which had been opposing Sterlite from 1996, Raja said, the state government sighting more job opportunities for youths had allowed it to operate from Thoothukudi.

“But just like the Jallikattu protests in 2017, the calm Thoothukudi anti-Sterlite protest was also converted into a riot by some anti-social elements, that forced the police to open fire and such anti-social elements should be penalised,” he said.

Pointing out that the FIR in the Thoothukudi riot has stated that the outfits like Naam Tamilar Katchi and Makkal Adhikaram had instigated the attack, the BJP leader urged the state government to ban these organisations which has the main agenda of destroying public tranquility.
