Mohammed Rafiq (23) and Mohammed Irfan (25), both residents of KK Nagar, posted an advertisement to sell Rafiq’s bike on the e-commerce site.
A customer, registered in OLX as Kumar, contacted them and showed interest in buying the bike.
Rafiq and Irfan fixed a meeting at a tea stall at the Central bus stand.
Kumar, a well dressed man, arrived at around 10.30 am on Saturday to meet the duo. After talking about basic details of the vehicle and a cup of tea, Kumar wanted to take the bike for a spin. But Rafiq was alert and asked Irfan to accompany. When they returned Kumar wanted to take the bike for a solo ride, apparently to understand the bike’s problem better.
Trusting him, Rafiq let him take the bike for a ride on his own. But this time he never returned. They were left with no other alternative but to contact the Cantonment police. A complaint was also registered and an investigation is in progress.
