Time to enforce SC order, not talks: DMK to MNM
The amicable talks proposed by Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan on the vexed Cauvery issue was not appreciated even by his friends.

Principal opposition party DMK, which otherwise maintains a rapport with the actor, has considered it wise to be evasive on the actor’s suggestion that the issue could be resolved by holding bilateral talks. Kamal had suggested talks after calling on Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy a day ago.
Reacting to the issue, a reticent DMK working president MK Stalin on Tuesday reminded the actor that his father Karunanidhi had held several rounds of talks in the past during his chief ministership and the issue had reached a stage where it is now imperative to enforce the Supreme Court order to secure Tamil Nadu’s riparian rights.
Asked about the actor’s meeting with Kumaraswamy, Stalin, talking to reporters after paying floral tributes at Quaid-e-Millet at Triplicane, said the DMK was concentrating on enforcing the SC order, more so when Cauvery water should have reached the state already.
Referring to the numerous agitations his party had chaired, Stalin said that they were in anticipation of the enforcement of the apex court order, apparently, suggesting that his party was not for holding talks with the neighbour on the riparian dispute any more.
However, very few leaders in the state have cared to react to the actor-politicians’ suggestion. Even the state Congress unit, which has the duty to defend the Kumaraswamy government it supports in Bengaluru, has stayed calm on the suggestion, understandably, to avoid political ramifications here, and that too when the chances of the government lifting the sluices of Mettur Dam on scheduled June 12 for delta irrigation remains bleak.
