Speaking to the media here, Balakrishnan said while the government has not made any comment against the people who participated in the protest in Thoothukudi, what was the need for Rajnikanth to claim that they were anti-social elements. “While calling the common man anti-social, he refuses to make any comment against the Sterlite factory which is anti-people,” said Balakrishnan. He demanded that Rajinikanth withdraw his statement against the people and tender an unconditional apology. He stressed that the Thoothukudi incident was a testimony of the government’s failure.
Similarly, he claimed that actor Kamal Hassan entered politics because he has no movie and people will not accept his ideology.
Meanwhile, CPM Central Committee member and Rajya Sabha member TK Rangarajan said in Karur that the one-member commission on the Thoothukudi firing incident should interrogate Rajnikanth.
Speaking to the media, Rangarajan said the truth would never come out from the inquiry by the one-member commission and so, the case should be transferred to the CBI.
The term ‘anti-social element’ that was used by Rajinikanth was a degrading comment against the people who fought peacefully for 99 days. “He used the term prompted by others and the commission should enquire Rajinikanth and bring out the truth,” he said.
