The six-year-old boy, who was rescued by locals, said in a WhatsApp audio message recorded by his rescuers that it was his father who had tried to kill him. In the message lasting 1 minute 24 seconds which has gone viral, the boy is heard stating that his father Kumar (36), a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel and a resident of Kaspa in Vellore, had took him on a two-wheeler after promising to buy the latter biscuits and chocolates.

The boy is then heard as saying that his father purchased alcohol, asking him to wait outside the liquor shop.

Subsequently, the father was said to have taken the boy to a nearby farm where the father consumed liquor.

Stating that the bike had run out of petrol, Kumar took the boy on foot to Sembedu near Ariyur, where he then suddenly threw the boy into a village well and left the place.

The Sembedu VAO lodged a complaint with the Ariyur police, who registered a case on Friday.

Inquiries revealed that on June 1, the NDRF personnel Kumar poured kerosene on himself and four of his sons following a tiff with his 32-yearold wife Usha. On information, police reached the spot and settled the issue at that time through talks.
