Tamil Nadu chosen for TEQIP phase three programme
With Tamil Nadu identified as one of the better performing States in higher education, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has selected the State to implement the phase three project of Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP).

“As TN performed well among 22 states in phase two programme, the MHRD asked the state to implement TEQIP phase three programme from 2018-19,” an official in the department of Higher Education told DT Next.
A total of four government engineering colleges at Bargur, Coimbatore, Karaikudi and Salem will be participating in the upcoming project. Likewise, two government aided engineering colleges at Coimbatore and one government aided engineering college at Madurai will also taking part.
“These seven institutions are entitled to receive a grant of Rs 7 crore each to enhance the quality of education among others,”.
Tamil Nadu’s initiatives under TEQIP includes, modernisation of laboratories, workshops and libraries, financial assistance for more than 3,500 PG students and over 400 PhD scholars.
The programme seeks to improve quality of engineering education in existing institutions and support to strengthen few affiliated technical universities to improve their policy, academic and management practice.
