As there is a lack of availability of modern healthcare facilities for poor people with pets, the research centre is expected to help with providing healthcare for their domestic animals at low cost.
“The research centre will be completed by ten months,” TANUVAS sources said.
An official from TANUVAS said that a private party will be appointed very soon to set up the centre. The unit will also train the stakeholders about the traditional animal healthcare and husbandry practices, which will be integrated according to the local environment and needs.
The ethno-veterinary medicine, which will be produced by the research centre will be generally cost-effective, environment-friendly and sustainable to a specific area. The TANUVAS official said that present research on the use of herbal medicine in veterinary practice is generally limited to clinical trials.
“However, it is the new centre will revive, revalidate and refine the research on Veterinary herbal medicine”, he said. The chemical lab tests and research of the traditional formulations and medicinal plants, is expected to be helpful for developing the new veterinary drugs and medicines.
