Residents to install CCTV cameras in Vilar

Taking note of the increasing incidents of burglaries and thefts at Vilar near Thanjavur, the residents’ association has decided to install CCTV cameras to nab the culprits.

According to residents, valuables worth several lakh and cash were reportedly stolen in the area in the past few days. 

Several waylaying incidents and chain snatching incidents were also reported. The residents, who lost their valuables, approached the Thanjavur taluk police and registered complaints, however, the police have not nabbed the culprits so far. Subsequently, the residents’ welfare association organised a meeting on Saturday and made announcements using an autorickshaw, urging the residents to install CCTV cameras in their locality.

Meanwhile, the police also have also assured to increase the vigil in the area and asked the public to inform the local police immediately if they spot any strangers in the area.
