5 from Ambur die in K’taka road mishap

Five persons from Tamil Nadu were killed and three others sustained injuries after the car in which they were travelling in collided with a stationary lorry at Hiriyur in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Sadaam Hussain (22), Taushik Ahamed (20), Shah Rukh (20), Sadaam (20) and Ashiq Ahamed (22), all residents of Tuthipet Teachers Colony near Ambur. While four were killed on the spot, Ashiq Ahamed succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The inured persons, including Sayed Ahamed, the driver, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The accident occurred when the group were returning from Goa, where they had gone for a brief holiday after Ramzan. A pall of gloom descended on the Teachers colony near Ambur after reports of the accident came in.
