Credit war erupts over idol recovery
The ruling AIADMK and the opposition DMK sparred over claiming credit for retrieving the rare artefacts smuggled out of Tamil Nadu.

Replying to the debate on demand for grants for his department, state minister for Tamil Official Language K Pandiarajan said the AIADMK was making all out efforts to retrieve idols smuggled out of the state in the past.
Interjecting the reply, former education minister Thangam Thennarasu of the DMK said they had gone all the way to California to retrieve idols. Pandiarajan, who claimed credit for the retrieval of Raja Raja Chozhan and Lokamadevi statues from a museum in Ahmedabad and arrest of idol-smuggler Subash Kapoor said the DMK had only gone abroad to get the idol to exhibit in a function.
Seeking to know if the DMK had filed FIRs or approached courts, Pandiarajan added that only the AIADMK had made efforts and retrieved statues.

- Rs 65 lakh to repair and renovate the memorial fort of Kattabomman at Panchaalankurichi in Thoothukudi.
