State MBBS, BDS counselling to begin today

The first phase of the state counselling to fill the 3,393 MBBS and 1,198 BDS government and self-financed seats will begin at the Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital in Omandurar Estate on Sunday and will continue till July 5. The second phase is expected to begin on July 16.

While counselling will be held on Sunday for the 26 physically challenged persons who applied to fill the five per cent seats allotted for them, the general counselling is expected to begin on Monday. The state government had on Thursday released the MBBS/BDS rank list for 2018-19, and have called for over 25,000 students to come forward for the MBBS/BDS counselling.

Topper of the state government quota, K Keerthana, with a score of 676 in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), is likely to take up a seat at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, while the other toppers will be allotted their seats on Sunday.

There are a total of seven MBBS seats and one BDS seat under the sports quota, for which the state has received 284 applications. For the 10 MBBS and one BDS seats under the ex-servicemen quota, 469 candidates have applied. This year, almost 10,000 old students have also sent in their applications.
