The State government issued a circular to  private schools, warning them against  engaging private agencies to conduct special coaching classes for competitive exams including IIT-JEE, IIT and NEET during school hours at the premises.

The Directorate of Matriculation Schools also said that they had come to know of these coaching classes being conducted from Class 6 onwards and that students were being compelled to attend such courses on payment of huge sums over and above the regular tuition fee noticed. 

“There should be no compulsion of any kind on students”, it said, adding that any such vioaltion would warrant stringent penal action by the department as contemplated in the act including withdrawal of recognition if necessary. 

Accordingly, all the Chief Educational Officers were instructed to communicate the circular to all private schools for necessary compliance. They were also instructed to initiate appropriate action against defaulters, if they continue with such unfair practices.
