Those teaching Class 11 students will also be trained for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Commerce, Economics and Accountancy. The teachers will undergo crash courses at various government training centres. About 50 teachers per subject for each class, who have already been identified, would be trained by a resource person.

“The training will go on for about a week,” said a senior official from the Education department. “Since distribution of textbooks was delayed, the training was postponed as well,” he added. According to the official, Class 11 teachers will be given priority since the syllabus has been designed in such a way that the students can face competitive exams.

During the training, the teachers will be given a handbook on each subject, which is a compiled version of the textbooks.

Meanwhile, the teachers’ association said that the training should be spread out in phases otherwise the schools will fall short of teachers. He also pointed out that the training could be provided on weekends so that teachers don’t miss the classes.

The association is planning to give a representation to the government urging the authorities to change the training schedule.
