The case is related to multiple registration of a government pond poramboke, survey number 70 and 71, in Ullagaram as personal property 26 years ago.
The long hand of law has is now reached Arulmani, who was the joint sub registrar of Alandur sub registry in 2003, R Visalakshi, a 75 year-old retired woman sub-registrar who first registered the property in a private person’s name, a postal department official, a retired professor of Nandanam government arts college and three officials from Registration department and others involved in the fraud.
The probe which the agency started in July 2016 after getting permission from Vigilance Commissioner had shown how officials had allowed registration of government poramboke land to people for suspected monetary gain.
The officials were charged with failing to follow norms and committing criminal misconduct by registering the settlement deed for the land, failing to refer the records and breaching the trust, and facilitating private parties to use the property for their own use.
