Golden chariot for Tirunallar temple
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy informed the Assembly on Thursday that a golden chariot at a cost of Rs 4.76 crore was being readied for the famous Sri Dharbaraneyeswara temple, which has a separate shrine for Lord Saneeswara, in Tirunallar near Karaikal.

The government also said it would soon launch a housing scheme for the poorer sections in the Union Territory. Replying to the demand for grants for housing and other de partments in the Assembly, Minister of Health and Tourism Malladi Krishna Rao said the Centre had earmarked Rs 172 crore for the scheme. He said, “This is the first time such a huge amount has been earmarked by the Centre for housing scheme.” Alleging Lt Governor Kiran Bedi of not clearing the file sent to her in this connection, Rao said the UT was now mulling to dispose some property of the board to meet its commitments. Meanwhile, Public Works Minister A Namassivayam said property tax would be reduced by 25 per cent.
Pondy GH may get oncology wing
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Thursday told the Legislative Assembly that the government would consider setting up an oncology wing at the Government General Hospital. Replying to a question during the Zero Hour, Narayansamy said while, cancer detection camps are being conducted and medicines being provided free of cost by the GH. He said the demand for the establishment of an Oncology wing was a just demand since over 1000 die due to cancer here in a year. Several members, who posed supplementary questions, wanted the government to set up a separate Oncology wing . AIADMK member Anabzhagan said that there are more cancer patients in Puducherry due to the unauthorized cell phone towers.
