A petition was filed by CBSE after the Madras High Court ordered CBSE to provide 196 marks as grace marks to students who appeared for the exam in Tamil as there were errors in Tamil question paper.
While the petition was heard on Thursday, CBSE told Supreme Court that the Tamil translators caused the errors in Tamil question papers of the medical entrance examination.
Meanwhile, Prakash Javadekar in the assembly said that the students will not have to travel to other states to appear for the NEET exam and that the exam will be conducted in the states where the students prefer.
The HRD Minister added that the translators who were recommended by the Tamil Nadu government were involved in the preparation of NEET question paper in Tamil.
Earlier, the HRD minister Prakash Javadekar had announced that the newly formed National Testing Agency (NTA) would now conduct the national level examinations -- NET, NEET, JEE (Mains).
National Eligibility Test (NET) would be conducted in December and JEE (Mains) twice a year, in January and April. NEET would be conducted in February and May, the minister said. NET, a qualifying test for admission in higher educational institutions in the country, would be the first exam to be conducted by the newly formed body.
The NTA would also conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) and Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test(GPAT), Javadekar said.
