V Suresh, national general secretary, PUCL, in a statement, on Thursday, said that policemen, in plainclothes, barged into the house of Murali, at 4 am on July 12, and when Murali questioned the purpose of the raid they had informed him that he had connection with an activist attached to People’s Rights Protection Centre (PRPC), with whom Murali had a couple of conversations over phone.

The policemen led by one ‘Q’ Branch Inspector, Raja, from Tirunelveli, did not spare even the wife and other family members of Murali. PUCL strongly condemned the action and called it as an act of state terrorism.
