TN sandalwood smuggler shot at in Bengaluru

A sandalwood smuggler from Tamil Nadu sustained a bullet injury when a security guard opened fire at Banaswadi Military Garrison on a group of smugglers, who were reportedly cutting sandalwood tree on the campus on Monday.

According to a press release here, the gang of about five smugglers sneaked into the campus and were illegally cutting sandalwood trees when the army patrol spotted them.

The gang attacked the security with lethal weapons and pelted stones at the security personnel despite warning. 

Thereafter, the patrol leader ordered to fire at the gang. In the attack, one security guard was injured and smuggler Ramar, a native of Tamil Nadu, received bullet injury on his leg and fell down while other members of the gang managed to escape.
