Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami today expressed grief over the death of six people when a car ploughed through a crowd at a bus stand in Coimbatore and announced solatium of Rs one lakh each to their families.
The victims were waiting at a bus stop yesterday when the speeding car mowed them down. Three others were injured in the incident.
"I was grieved to know about the incident," the Chief Minister said in a statement here.
He announced a solatium of Rs 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
Palaniswami also announced Rs 50,000 for seriously injured and Rs 25,000 for those who suffered minor injuries.
The chief minister said he has directed the district administration to ensure best medical treatment to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
