Acting on a tip-off, a team, led by the district PEW DSP Saravanan, raided a house at Chartrapathi Sivaji Nagar in Kattinayanapalli village and seized fake liquor worth Rs 5 lakh.

The accused, identified as Madesh alias Madeshwaran, 40, had manufactured the spurious liquor and supplied them to the dhaba’s (roadside restaurant) located along the highways in Vellore, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts.

“He bought the spirit and chemical substances from Bangalore to make the liquor. He packed them in branded bottles and supplied to the dhaba’s for a cheaper rate. We are also inquiring him to know if the fake liquor was supplied to Tasmac shops,” police said.

Police seized a car, spirit, numerous empty liquor and sealed bottles and chemical substances from his house. Inquiries revealed that Madesh was into making fake liquor over the last several years in a clandestine manner.

The Guruparapalli police are on the lookout for some of his associates including Venkatesh from Kaniyambadi in Vellore district, who was now on the run.
