TTV Dhinakaran ready to align with Congress sans DMK
While the ruling AIADMK remains conspicuously silent on the possibility of holding local body elections as per the Madras High Court order, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Thursday said the people would express their resentment against the present government if the civic polls are held.

He also said his party is open for an alliance with the Congress if it quits the DMK alliance, while reiterating that he would never align with the BJP.
He said the AMMK would contest the local body elections on ‘Pressure Cooker’ symbol since the Supreme Court had already assured that the party could approach it for a common symbol whenever any election is announced. The party is already gearing up for the Parliament and Assembly elections and it could also face the local body elections if it was held. “We have announced poll managers for all the 40 Parliament seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and all the 234 Assembly constituencies in the state,” he told reporters here.
“Even with the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol, the AIADMK could not win the RK Nagar by elections despite the constituency being the one held by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The local body polls would prove how much the people hate the present government and it would reflect the ground situation in the state,” the AMMK deputy general secretary asserted.
The AMMK is aiming to recruit two crore members to his party before October 15 and the enrolment is going on a fast pace, he added.
