Septuagenarian held for killing 22-year-old wife

The accused Altaf married Nasheema two years ago and used to reportedly demand money from her parents which often led to quarrels between the couple. 

He had even tried to sell Nasheema’s jewellery given by her parents against her will. Moreover, Altaf was in debt and had also failed in his attempts to set up a fruit business .

Thereafter, he started working as an electrician in Chennai and returned home on weekends, said police. On a similar visit on Sunday, the couple got into a quarrel which led to an enraged Altaf stabbing her to death before fleeing the spot.

Thereafter, he informed his mother about it over phone call, following which police tracked his phone and arrested him.
