Four killed,eight injured in mishap
Four persons died and eight others suffered injuries after an omnibus collided head-on with a bamboo laden lorry on the Bangalore-Coimbatore National Highway near Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district on Thursday.

According to police, the bus with around 42 on head was heading to Kottayam from Bangalore. While crossing Kumarapalayam, a Kovai-bound lorry from Vridhachalam hit the bus and it overturned.
In the impact, Mini Varghese (38), wife of Bijo and her son Azalvijo (10) and lorry cleaner Sidharth (30), were killed on the spot. Nine others, who suffered injuries, were rushed to Erode Government Hospital, where George, 63, succumbed without responding to treatment. All the four victims were natives of Kerala.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem to the Kumarapalayam government hospital.
