PMK announces campaign to save water

Criticising the government for not taking effective steps to conserve water and manage the resource properly, PMK president GK Mani announced a two-day campaign to save water.

Talking to reporters on Tuesday here, he said the PMK would lead a campaign ‘Vaigaiyai Kaappom’ to be presided by its leader Anbumani Ramadoss. The campaign would be taken through five districts lying on the Vaigai riverbed, he said.

He further said that unhealthy practices resulted in water scarcity while several cusecs of water from dams were being let into sea in a wasteful manner.  He also said that it was unfortunate that Kerala experienced worst ever flood that devastated many parts of the state affecting people from all walks of life. He expressed deep regret over the loss of lives in the flood.
