The DPC would be located at Brammadesam in Vembakkam panchayat union. Farmers would be offered the government-fixed Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 1,590 per quintal for the fine paddy variety. In addition, they would be paid an incentive of Rs 70 totaling Rs 1,660 per quintal, officials added.

Similarly, common paddy varieties would be offered a MSP of Rs 1,550 and Rs 50 as incentive, totaling Rs 1,600 per quintal.

Kandasamy urged the farmers to use the DPC to offload their paddy stocks. The money due to them would be directly sent to their back accounts through the Electronic Clearing System (ECS).

However, a section of farmers felt that the opening of only one DPC for the entire district would not benefit those in the far-flung areas.

They requested the district administration to open more DPCs to benefit all farmers.
