Tipsy PWD official runs car over 3 persons
Three persons, including two women, were mowed down by a car driven by PWD official Dhayalakumar who was reportedly under the influence of liquor, on Monday evening near here.

A group of construction wokers were waiting for a bus at the Agraharam bus stop near Sirugamani around 7 pm when a car from Kulithalai ran amok and rammed the bus stop. It ran over the people waiting at the bus stop.
In the impact, five persons, including four women sustained serious injuries. Of them, three persons, including two women, died on the spot. The deceased were later identified as Vadivel, Chithra and Gomathy while the injured were identified as Ranganayagi, mother-in-law of the deceased Gomathy and Pappathi. The public rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies and rescued the injured. They were rushed to the Tiruchy GH where the condition of one of the injured was said to be critical.
The Pettaivaithalai police rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. They found that the car was owned by the PWD official deployed on duty for Kollidam regulator work. Eyewitnesses said the official who was driving the car was in an inebriated condition. Pettaivaithalai police later arrested PWD (Ariyaru Sub Division) Assistant Executive Engineer Dhayalakumar.
