Duraimurugan, who usually travels by car, chose to arrive in Katpadi by train on Wednesday. He was accorded a warm welcome by his supporters.

Numbering in hundreds, supporters beating drums entered the Katpadi railway station platform posing disturbance to other passengers.

The passengers were unable to hear announcements made over the station’s PA system, while many were even unable to enter the platform to board their trains.

Meanwhile, cadres blocked the road at a key junction where Duraimurugan addressed his supporters, affecting traffic proceeding towards VIT university.

While men danced to the sound of drums, women standing along the nearly 1 kilometre route welcomed him with ‘aarthi’.

Buses bound for Chittoor and those entering Tamil Nadu from Andhra Pradesh were held up till Duraimurugan left the venue.
