The tank, spread over 45 cents and located in Kilravanthavadi village, is called Kamasastra Tank as the walls of the tank depict the kamasutra skills. Sources said that the tank was under the control of revenue department. Since the department failed to maintain it properly, the sculptures have been damaged.
Following this, a team of officials, including assistant collector R Thangavel, tahsildar and village administrative officer (VAO) inspected the site and suggested that the tank be handed over to the State Archeological Department for better maintenance. Chinnayankulam – another tank located close to the Kamasastra Tank — is maintained by the State Archeological Department. The tank currently attracts 150 visitors per day.
