Two attempt to steal cows, held

Tiruchy City police arrested two persons, who attempted to lift stray cows by feeding them agathi keerai on Saturday. The vehicle they used for the theft was also seized.

According to police, R Karuppusamy (48) of Srinivasanagar was rearing cows and he reportedly let off his cows on Friday afternoon. At 12.30 pm, when Karuppasamy went to look after the cows in the field, he found two persons were trying to load the cows in a van by feeding them agathi keerai.

Karuppusamy caught the two men with the help of public and handed them over to the police officials at GH police station. A case was registered against the duo and were arrested.

After preliminary inquiries, the duo were identified as I Periasamy (67) of Rasipuram in Namakkal and K Boominathan (24) of Manapparai in Tiruchy.

The police found that the duo were arrested in similar case in 2015.
