Stalin goes all out to acknowledge Kanimozhi’s loyalty to party

Stalin, of all, had even gone to the extent of specially appreciating her in the all-important meeting, which was the first to be held since he was elected the DMK president. Sources privy to the meeting revealed that Stalin had even shared the details of the meeting he and Kanimozhi had with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to secure space for their late father M Karunanidhi on the Marina. “Kanimozhi got angry when I held CM’s hand and pleaded him to allot land for Kalaignar on Marina,” sources quoted Stalin as saying in the district secretaries meeting.

Though there was truth in the statement, even party insiders admitted that there was no reason for Stalin to recall it and that too in the meeting convened to discuss the course the party must be steered in. Party sources with knowledge of the familial equations said there was a newfound bonhomie between Stalin’s family and Kanimozhi, more so after she swore loyalty to her brother-cum-party-president, fending off interest from the other brother MK Alagiri who is rebelling against his influential younger brother Stalin who had spurned his pleas to return to the party.

If sources in the party were to be believed, Stalin has advised party’s second rung leaders not to fail to acknowledge Kanimozhi as and when opportunity arose. However, Kanimozhi, who is the secretary of the party’s women’s wing, might have to wait for her turn of elevation, as was rumoured in the party circles earlier that she might be rewarded with deputy general secretary or an equally good post.
