Stolen gold recovered from Madhya Pradesh village

Arakkonam railway police on Wednesday recovered a 8-sovereign gold ingot from the village of a Madhya Pradesh native, who was arrested in a theft case at Jolarpet station last month.

The accused, identified as Uttam Patel (34), was arrested on August 24. On information about the arrest, Arakkonam railway police took him into custody, following which, he confessed that he had stolen 8 sovereigns from Jayapadmavathy (50), wife of Dharmaraj of Kadayanallur in Tirunelveli, when they travelling to Chennai on Sapthagiri express earlier this year.

There after, police visited the accused’s native village in Madhya Pradesh and recovered a 8-sovereign gold ingot, reportedly made from the stolen jewellery.
