“We are trying our best to attract foreign investors by conducting road shows. Though we cannot expect it (investment) to happen immediately we are focusing on long term investment,” Santhosh Babu, Secretary, IT Department, told DT Next.
Babu along with state IT Minister Manikandan left for the US on a five- day programme. “USA is a major investor in software companies hence the road shows,” said Babu, before leaving for the US.
The second edition of GIM is scheduled on January 23 and 24. “Tamil Nadu is not only focused on investments alone but also in making sure that investments get realised after agreements are signed,” another IAS official said on condition of anonymity.
The official also said that the main reason for GIM-I not becoming a success was the absence of ground work before the meet but now Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has clearly instructed officials to arrange road shows not just in India but also in foreign countries having high potential for investments.
Recently, State Tourism Minister, Vellamandi Natarajan, went to Malaysia to woo investors to attend GIM-II. Earlier, Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, visited Japan and highlighted the importance of Tuna fishing in Tamil Nadu.
