Tension in Pudukkottai after AIADMK protest
Tension prevailed in Pudukkottai for a few hours on Friday after AIADMK cadre raised slogans in front of commercial establishments of DMK functionaries who had allegedly used abusive language against Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar, even as DMK cadre raised counter slogans.

The Pudukkottai DMK had organised a protest against the AIADMK and seeking the arrest of Vijaya Baskar who has been named in the gutkha scam case. The protest was led by former Union minister and MLA S Ragupathy, MLAs Periannan Arasu and Meyyanathan in which Arimalam union secretary Ramalingam and district deputy organiser (Literary wing) Thennalur Palaniappan had reportedly used abusive language against Vijaya Baskar.
Against this backdrop, the AIADMK cadre gathered at a petrol pump in Viralimalai run by DMK’s Thennalur Palaniappan and raised slogans against him.
Another group of AIADMK cadre gathered in front of a commercial centre owned by Ramalingam at Pudukkottai and locked the shops and created a ruckus.
