‘4,000 nursing vacancies to be filled soon’

Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar, inaugurated a slew of projects across Thanjavur district, on Tuesday. He said that 4,000 vacancies in nursing would be filled through Tamil Nadu Medical Service Recruitment Board.

Speaking to the reporters in the sidelines of inaugurating MRI scan centre at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital, Vijayabaskar said, “For the first time in the history of Tamil Nadu, Thanjavur Medical College Hospital would have a special cancer centre for the sum of Rs 18 crore and this centre would be inaugurated within two months while the multi-speciality hospital which is constructed to the tune of Rs 150 crore would be opened for the public in four months.”

The minister added that as many as 1,800 doctors and 4,000 nurses would be appointed through the TN Medical Recruitment Board shortly. 

Stating that around 50 lakh people received the medical insurance card, the health minister said, those who have not obtained the card and those who lost the card can get a new card from their respective Collectorates within 10 hours of applying in the prescribed format.

Meanwhile, the minister said that the state government has been extending its fullest cooperation to the centre for establishing AIIMS in Madurai and the state government has already sent a detailed report to the centre and the works would commence as per the schedule.
