The police identified the two accused as Tamil Selvi (28) and Kumar (30) from Karai village in Kancheepuram district. A few days ago, the body of Rajaram (38), a construction labourer, also from Karai, was found near Vembakkam in Tiruvannamalai district.

After registering a case, police checked the call logs in the phone of Rajaram and narrowed down on Tamil Selvi and Kumar and took them to the station for an inquiry.

During the interrogation, Kumar told the cops that he along with his lover Tamil Selvi killed Rajaram.

Kumar further told the police that he and Rajaram were known to each other, but their relationship soured over an affair with a woman. The woman, who was reportedly in a relationship with Rajaram earlier, later developed an affair with Kumar. Because of this, Rajaram stopped talking to Kumar. Irked by this, Kumar along with Tamil Selvi hatched a plot to kill Rajaram.

On the day of the murder, Tamil Selvi enticed Rajaram and asked him to come to Kilnelli village at night. When Rajaram came to the said spot, Kumar stabbed him to death.

Kumar and Tamil Selvi have been remanded and further investigations are on.
