A source from Kamal’s camp told DT Next that he wants women in the party to be given equal importance and that the party represent the appropriate morals and respect shown to women, as he is aware of his large women supporter base.
Following this, a meeting for the women and children welfare wing took place at the party office on September 26 with Sripriya, women and children welfare wing coordinator, presiding over it. Expansion of membership and measures to be undertaken to improve the welfare for women and children were discussed in the meeting.
State Executive Committee members CK Kumaravel, Sowrirajan, Thangavelu, media and public relations executive Murali Appas and district in-charges of Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram participated in the meeting. Meanwhile, the process of recruiting the constituency and divisional in-charges was also highlighted. Similar to the selection of the district in-charges, the constituency and divisional in-charges would also be selected through interviews to be held in the near future. Kamal has called for a press meet on Friday morning at the MNM headquarters here to discuss the party’s policies on gram sabhas conducted across the state.
