Sources said Murugesan of Cherankulam had hung himself in the godown. Around 9.30 am, Packiaraj, the watchman, spotted the manager’s body.
Packiaraj passed on the information to the neighbours and the police. On receiving the alert, the Thirumakkottai police led by Mannargudi DSP Ashokan rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. They sent it to the Mannargudi GH for post-mortem examination. Murugesan is survived by his wife Senthamizh Selvi (40) and three children.
Sources said the audit work at the godown was going on for the past one week and Murugesan reported for work on Sunday as well.
“Though the exact reason for his death is yet to be ascertained, we are questioning the agricultural department officials and his subordinates,” the police said.
