Tiruvannamalai

It may be recalled that two weeks ago the district administration had cleared all encroachments in front of the 16-pillar mandapam at Arunachaleswarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai. Following this drive, the temple administration decided to plant saplings in the area to beautify the area.

The encroachments in the front of the temple was posing severe hardships as to devotees, who visited the temple on auspicious occasions. On festive days, the encroachment by shops and vendors was causing traffic jam, which lasted for several hours, in areas around the temple. Acting on a communication from the temple officials the district administration and police cleared all the encroachments. It was also decided to grow exotic and ornamental plants to beautify the area and to prevent encroachments in future.
