BJP functionary held for murder in drunken brawl

Police said V Nagaraj, 21, supervisor at a private firm in SIDCO and a BJP cadre from Nallampalayam near Kavundampalayam, was stabbed on his abdomen, on Sunday by Kandasamy alias Kutty, who holds the position of BJP’s youth wing secretary, at Nallampalayam.  

“It all started, when a group of 30 people gathered at a farm in Ezhuvaikkal Road for a liquor party. Following an argument, the duo entered into a fisticuff and Kandasamy overpowered him and stabbed on his abdomen with a knife,” police added.

Nagaraj was immediately rushed to a private hospital at Kavundampalayam. After first aid, the youth was shifted to another private hospital.

However, he succumbed to injuries without responding to treatment, on Tuesday.

Following this, Alandurai police altered the case of attempt to murder into murder case. The accused was later secured from a hideout place and further inquiries are on.
