DMK announces stir against hydrocarbon project in Delta districts today

The party had already announced agitations in 120 locations on October 3 and 4 against the State to expose the corruptions of CM Edappadi K Palaniswami’s regime and the Centre for meting out step-motherly treatment to Tamil Nadu on various issues. 

Referring to the official permission granted to ONGC and Vedanta in the presence of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on Monday, Stalin, announced that district secretaries would lead the agitations against the hydrocarbon project in the three delta districts. 

In another statement issued later in the day, Stalin wondered, “The AIADMK made so much fuss during the DMK regime for an MoU allowing exploration of the project’s feasibility and implementation of the same after public consultation. Now that an agreement has been signed for granting license for the hydrocarbon project, where have they gone hiding?”

Recalling the daring statement of Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal at the license agreement signing function on Monday that the Sterlite copper smelter plant would be opened in Thoothukudi shortly, the DMK president sought to know the response of the AIADMK regime on the issue. “Will they open the sealed gates (of Sterlite plant)? The masquerade of the AIADMK, which shot 13 innocent people dead in broad daylight for the welfare of factory owners, would be ripped off soon,” Stalin quipped.
