Man awarded double life sentence for kidnapping and murdering lover

Karur district Principal Sessions court on Wednesday awarded double life term to a man for kidnapping and murdering his lover.

According to prosecution, M Sudha (26) was working in a textile company at Karur in 2010. During her stint in the company, she developed an affair with her colleague P Balasubramani (31) of Manapparai in Tiruchy. Later, Sudha asked Balasubramani to marry her.

Initially, he refused and later accepted. Balasumbramani took her to Tiruchendur to marry her on December 20, 2010. While on their way to Tiruchendur, Bala, Kannan and Dinesh all friends of Balasubramani joined them. 

When they reached Virudunagar, they had stopped the car and asked Sudha to get down. When she got down, Balasubramani strangled her to death with her saree. In an attempt to hide the murder, they hung the body of Sudha on a tree and escaped from the spot.

On information, Pandalur Police recovered the body from the spot and began investigations. Based on the inquiry, the police arrested Balasubramani, who admitted to having committed the murder during interrogation. 

When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, the Magistrate Nambirajan awarded Balasubramani double life time imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs. 5,000.
