After paying condolences at Parithi’s Beasant Nagar residence, Stalin termed the demise of the former MLA as a great loss to Dravidian movement. Recalling his stint as deputy speaker and information minister during the previous DMK regimes, Stalin said the late leader was a firebrand speaker who also initiated fiery debates in the House.

Referring to deceased DMK president M Karunanidhi’s comparison of Parithi to mythical characters “veera Abhimanyu” for facing the AIADMK alone in the state Assembly, Stalin, who refused to believe Parithi’s death, also said the deceased former minister was a favourite of Karunanidhi despite him drifting from the DMK due to personal and familial compulsions.

TTV Dhinakaran, who paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of Parithi said that his party has lost a trusted lieutenant. Dhinakaran also said that the party would mourn the death of its organising secretary for three days. “After Amma’s demise there were traitors trying to dismantle the AIADMK, but at such crucial times Parithi stood by justice and joined the AMMK. His death is a great loss for the AMMK,” Dhinakaran said.

BJP leader Tamilisai Soundarajan and Samathuva Makkal Katchi leader Sarath Kumar also condoled the death of Parithi. According to family sources the former minister will be cremated at the Krishnampettai burial ground in Mylapore on Sunday.

“Residents and party workers from both the DMK and the AIADMK thronged to pay their respects to the former MLA, who is a popular figure in Central and North Chennai. He would always help those who seek his aid,” said C Purushothaman, a DMK functionary from Egmore constituency.
