Federation for Peoples Rights (FPR) here on Monday began a movement to send post cards to Governor Banwarilal Purohit demanding the release of the convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

It may be noted that the Supreme Court had passed an order that the Tamil Nadu government could take a decision on the release of the seven convicts and accordingly, the Cabinet adopted a resolution and sent it to the Governor for his approval. However, the Governor is yet to take a decision on it.

FPR Secretary G Sugumaran said that post cards were being sent to the Governor to take a speedy decision and release them. Several social organization members participated when the movement was started by Sugumaran in front of the head post office here. The movement will continue in Rural areas, Sugumaran said.
