New public prosecutor appointed for Madras High Court
Senior Counsel A Natarajan has been appointed as the new public prosecutor to the Madras High Court. He comes in place of Additional public prosecutor C Emilias who was in charge of the post.

The office of public prosecutor has been lying vacant for the past one year since the resignation of R Rajarathinam last year. Emilias whose name figured for elevation as judge has been appointed as additional advocate general to look after criminal matters. This takes the number of Additional Advocate Generals for the Madras High Court to 11.
Natarajan, a native of Dindigul, was enrolled as an advocate on November 8, 1978. Thereafter, he was designated as senior counsel in 2005. With an experience spanning four decades, Natrajan’s expertise is on the criminal side and he has appeared in many high profile criminal cases, including Auto Shankar case, MLA M K Balan murder case, Dharmapuri Agriculture College bus burning case and Udumalpet honour killing case.
As per the notification, Natarajan’s name was recommended for appointment as Public Prosecutor by a selection panel based on a meeting held last month and thereafter the recommendation has now been approved by the High Court as well as the Government. Natarajan has served as member of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for two terms and is also an executive council member of Tamil Nadu National Law School (TNNLS), Trichy.
