All aspects, including alliance, figure in DMK meet for 2019 poll

The Principal Opposition DMK’s high-level Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday discussed the strategy to be adopted for the upcoming general elections.

The meeting held at the party headquarters ‘Anna Arivalayam’ here was chaired by DMK president and Leader of the Opposition M K Stalin, in which senior leaders and committee members attended and presented their views.

Sources said the current status of each constituency, the ground work needed to be done by the party cadre and the possibility of alliances were said to have been discussed in the meeting.

Later talking to reporters, Stalin said the meeting discussed the strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and on how to face the Assembly elections if it was also held simultaneously. The present position of the parties, which were already in alliance the DMK, was also discussed, he added.

“We will soon hold a discussion with the headquarters office bearers and later convene the General council at the time of elections and take a decision,” he added.

Stalin said committees would be formed and the manifesto would be prepared based on the prevailing situation once the election dates are announced. Asked whether the meeting discussed the allotment of seats for alliance partners, he said, “we discussed all aspects”.
