Of the 42 students, who were enrolled in 1967 batch of the class 10 of the municipal high school, 32 turned up for the reunion meeting at the institution, which is now a government higher secondary school. The remaining two have expired. The students included doctors, lawyers, auditor, bank officials and revenue department staff.

The meeting was arranged by the school’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA) president M Baskar, former Gudiyattam municipal chairman, along with the school headmaster SD Thirunavukarasu.

Some of the old students, who still reside in the town, including Dr B Anandan, auditor V Jaganathan and K Yuvaraj, had mooted the idea of a get-together. As the average age of their teachers ranged between 66 and 68, none of their them were able to participate in the meeting.

The group’s reunion in their alma mater reminded them of their days in the school and they recollected interesting and memorable moments, including the pranks which they had played back then.  However, they all thanked their teachers for their present position.

The group went around the school and had a lunch with the current school head. Before bidding adieu, they resolved to provide the infrastructure needed for the school and help the present set of students to pursue higher education. They also decided to meet regularly and discuss various things, including the improvement of the institution.
