Madras HC: 18 MLA disqualification case verdict today

The judgement regarding disqualification of 18 rebel AIADMK MLA's will be taken by M Sathyanarayanan who had earlier reserved his order following a split verdict among two judge first bench of Madras High Court.

The disqualification of the 18 AIADMK MLAS owing allegiance to TTV Dinakaran had transpired in September 2017. 

But as per the number game in vogue at the assembly, indications are clear that reinstatement of the 18 MLAs might spell trouble for the ruling AIADMK.

Earlier on August 31st, the third judge Justice M Sathyanarayanan reserved his verdict regarding the case following a split verdict among the two judge first bench comprising of  the then Chief Justice Indira Banerjee upheld the order of disqualification passed by the Tamil Nadu assembly speaker P Dhanapal, the second Judge Justice M Sundar set aside the Speaker’s order on grounds of perversity and violation of constitutional mandate. 

With reports hinting that the third judge, M Sathyanarayanan, of Madras High Court would soon deliver the much-awaited verdict in the 18 MLAs’ disqualification case, the political mood in the State has become charged.

At present,Most of the 18 MLAs now staying at Courtallam are reachable over phone and the bonhomie continues, the AIADMK functionary said, confirming that fresh talks and parleys between the AIADMK and rebel AMMK MLAs have already begun.
