PM remote controlling Cong govt in Pondy through L-G: Sanjay Dutt
AICC in-charge for Puducherry Sanjay Dutt has alleged that a precarious political situation is being experienced here with Prime Minister Narendra Modi remote controlling the elected Congress government through Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, thereby undermining the mandate given by the people.
Puducherry
Dutt, who is on a five-day visit to strengthen the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, alleged that Bedi is misusing the office of Lt Governor to create hurdles and obstacles in the functioning of the democratically elected government.
Besides, the Lt Governor is overstepping boundaries and subverting constitution, he said, adding that it is anti-democratic and strikes at the root of democracy.
“Puducherry is a leading example of how the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre is ‘anti- federalism’,” he said.
National leaders of the Congress will raise the issue in the Parliament about the Centre undermining and insulting the elected government through the Lt Governor.
This ‘conspiracy’ will be taken up on the floor of the house by Senior Congress leaders during the ensuing winter session of the Parliament to expose the BJP, Dutt said.
He alleged that the BJP had captured power in some states despite being in a minority by manipulating with other parties or manoeuvring through horse trading.
When they could not do in Puducherry, they stalled the welfare and developmental activities through the Lt Governor forgetting it is affecting the people of the state, the senior leader alleged.
The Congress leadership stands with the Puducherry unit and is also considering an agitation during the next Parliament session so that the grievance and concerns of the people are represented at the highest citadel of democracy, he said. The party will also take the issue to the people through booth level activities,he added.
